cd Box

bestdangSK CD Case

This CD case is an extension of my personal identity bestdangSK project. One of the limitations given to me by my professor was that I could only print in black and white. I was able to paint a thin piece of wood, and then print my logo directly onto the wood. I constructed the box from balsa wood, using hinges and a hook lock for extra stability, function and aesthetic reasons. Once the box was completed I soaked the wood in mud, then brushed it off with a damp sponge. This achieved the aged look I desired, and it also gave the box a musty smell. I aged the metal with a secret recipe, but it is the only way I have found to age metal, and it looks awesome. On the inside of the lid there is a removable case that rests on two hooks. The case is made of stained canvas.

Friends Typographic Personification

This box is a mix of three personalities including my friends Mike, Christian and myself. Most of the phrases are pulled from the oddities of Christian, the look of the box come from Mike, and the small secret and hidden aspects come from my personality. This was just a fun way to get away from the computer and use my hands to make something cool.

A Taste of Art

This a project I worked on my senior year of high school for a local competition at the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art for the Agnes Markwalter Youth Art Competition. The theme for this competition was "A Taste of Art." I started by making the plate from clay, as well as the other pieces of food. I chose numerous classic and modern works of art, from which I copied with paint. The samples of works range from Van Gogh's "Starry Night," Michelangelo's "Sistine Chapel" to a piece of work from my art professor Pamela Segers. The pieces of food include a fried egg, three pancakes, a piece of toast and some bacon. I won Best of Show for this project, ahh modesty.
